HOW does SCHEDULing work with A FRESH 48 HOSPITAL session?
I have had three children and totally understand that babies have their own timelines. Since the scheduling is a little unpredictable, I only accept a limited number of Fresh 48 sessions each month.
It’s helpful when clients keep me updated in terms of how OBGYN appointments are going and things are progressing. (For example if you’re suddenly dilated 4cm, or decide to schedule an induction, the baby is breech and might need a C-section, etc.)
The most important thing is to let me know when you are on your way to the hospital and once the baby arrives so that I can have a general idea when the baby might be coming and make plans accordingly.
While I will do everything I can to be at the hospital within 48-hours, there is a very small chance that I won’t be able to make it. In this case, I do have several backup photographers “on call” who will be able to fill-in for me, in the event that your baby arrives when I am out of town, sick, etc.
What is a Fresh 48 HOSPITAL NEWBORN session like?
You may not have showered yet, you’re probably in a lot of pain, and you’re most definitely exhausted… but believe me when I say that Fresh 48 photos are worth it. There’s something so sacred and raw and beautiful about those first few days with the new little life you created.
I typically capture a variety of poses like sitting in the hospital bed, standing by the window, the baby in the hospital crib, close-ups of all their little features, name plate, etc. However I understand not everyone wants their photo taken while in the hospital. If you’d prefer to have photos of just the baby, or more abstract photos where you’re holding the baby but you are not focus, I am happy to customize the session!
I will help guide you through the basic poses, like how to hold the baby, where to look, etc. I will also give you some actions and tips to help things feel more relaxed and candid.
HOW LONG WILL THE SESSION LAST?
Most Fresh 48 hospital sessions are between 30-minutes, up to 1-hour.
Each session time will vary slightly because babies are unpredictable and I completely understand that! I’ve had three babies and each of them was very different. Some may sleep the whole time, others may need fed/changed/calmed, and I don’t ever want you to feel stressed or rushed! I’m also happy to snuggle a baby, or help entertain a toddler when needed.
I will always make sure we get a variety of images and that everyone is happy!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
WHEN DO WE GET THE PHOTOS BACK?
Fresh 48 session galleries are sent within 48 hours of the session. I want you to get the photos back while your baby is still fresh and new!
CAN I INCLUDE siblings or extra people?
100% YES! Siblings, grandparents, best friends, aunts, etc. All are welcome to have their photo taken with the baby at no extra cost.
What do we wear?
Authentic hospital look: Keep it simple and just rock the gown & hospital swaddle blanket.
There are so many cute robe sets and night gowns (that even have matching baby swaddles). Here are a few of my favorites: Milkmaid Goods and Dwell & Slumber.
For the baby…the options are endless! And we can do as many outfit changes as the baby allows. (Some hate to be changed and it makes them super angry. But others don’t mind at all!) Some ideas are: your favorite onesie (so you can see their cute legs and toes) , a trendy knotted onesie dress, swaddled in your favorite blanket, or my personal favorite: “natural” aka - just in a diaper! If you are looking for cute newborn outfits, here are a few of my favorites: Lucy Lue Organics, Mebie Baby, and Lou Lou and Company.
